The Arizona Piano Institute's Summer Festival is a one-week program designed for piano students of all ages, including pre-college and college level (a minimum repertoire requirement is Arizona Study Program Level 5, equivalent to easier Clementi sonatinas).
This Arizona Piano Institute video shows just a small part of what we do during the festival.
Our mission is to create an inspiring learning experience for our young pianists as they develop new insights through study and interaction with a faculty of internationally-acclaimed pianists and pedagogues.
Each day, students take part in master classes, attend workshops, and have scheduled practice and rehearsal times. Workshops have been on topics as varied as beginning composition, conducting, improvisation, memorization, sight-reading, ear-training, transition from harpsichord to piano and organ, pedaling, and others. The week culminates in a showcase recital in which all students participate.
This experience inspires and motivates young pianists and helps prepare them for future performances, auditions and competitions. Additionally, students have the opportunity during the week to develop long-term friendships with fellow pianists.
